Obtaining your Ohio and Ontario, Canada Non-Resident Fishing License
Important Information:
This site issues Ohio and Ontario, Canada Non-Resident fishing licenses .
After successfully completing the registration form you will receive
a valid and permanent license mailed via the US Postal Service.
Your license is valid immediately upon recieving once you have signed it, and can be used until
the expiration date shown.
If you need some assistance selecting the types of licenses, permits,
and stamps that you may be required to purchase, then read about them at the
Ohio DNR website.
Instructions
Below are the steps to
follow to register and purchase your Ohio fishing or hunting license on-line:
- Select Fishing from the "License Type"
drop down box.
- Select Non- Resident Ohio or Ontario Canada License from the "Residency?" drop
down box.
- Click on the Register
Here button.
- Select the type of license(s) you wish
to purchase.
- Fill in the Non-Resident Information"
form. The licensee's information should
be entered here.
- Click the Submit button.
- Fill in the "Billing Information".
If paying by credit card the credit card holder's information should be entered in this section. If you do not
feel comfortable transmitting your credit card information over the Internet we would be
happy to take your information over the phone, fax, or snail mail.
- Verify that the "License
Holder's" information is correct.
- Click the Submit button.
- Your license will be entered into the system and mailed
within 4 to 6 days of receiving payment .
- A hunting license is required for anyone hunting game
animals or game birds.
- A fishing license is required for fishing in Ohio's
waters.
- If you plan to hunt Migratory Game Birds(Ducks,
Doves, etc.) during the current or upcoming season,
you are required by law to complete the Harvest
Information Program survey form. It is a federal
requirement that participation in this survey take
place before hunting Migratory Game Birds.
- Resident means any citizen of the United States
who has been domiciled within the State of Ohio
for a period of at least six months.

- License Exemptions - Members of the U.S. Armed Forces
on annual leave or furlough
Free Licenses
Free licenses are issued on an annual basis. Applications
are available from any wildlife district office and many license
outlets. The following Ohio residents are eligible for a free
license:
- Persons 66 and older ( NO
LONGER AVAILABLE)
- Persons who are physically disabled and require
the assistance of another person to fish
- Residents of state and county institutions
- Holders of "Vertran" license plates displaying the
international wheelchair symbol
- Certain veterans who are permanently disabled
- Former prisoners of war
